Facts about whales
Breeding patterns of whales
Whales are large, magnificent, intelligent, aquatic mammals. They have sleek, streamlined bodies that move easily through the water. They are the only mammals, other than manatees (seacows), that live their entire lives in the water, and the only mammals that have adapted to life in the open oceans.
There are many destinations around the world to view whales due to their migratory life, however these 10 places are considered the best.
Also remember the following:
- Wherever you go whale watching, make sure that the tour company you are using is ecologically responsible
- Make sure that there is a trained naturalist accompanying you, and that the tour operator contributes to
education and research regarding whales.
- Whales and dolphins should never be chased. The tour operator should always remain at least 300 feet
away from the whales. If the whale comes towards you, that's your luck.
- Take a good pair of binoculars with you.
